VIDEO SURVEILLANCE IN RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITIES IN THE PRACTICE OF EU MEMBER STATE AUTHORITIES RESPONSIBLE FOR PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION

The focus of this paper will be on analyzing the role and implementation of video surveillance in residential communities, with particular emphasis on the challenges, risks, and dilemmas that arise during its introduction and application in the member states of the European Union. Special attention will be devoted to the practice of competent supervisory authorities and courts in EU member states regarding the processing of personal data carried out by residential communities through the use of video surveillance, highlighting potential mistakes while simultaneously presenting recommendations for responsible, efficient, and, above all, legally sound application of these security systems in residential communities.
