Abstract

Advances in technical and technological development bring changes to the lives of every individual every day, affect the functioning of economic entities and the economy as a whole. Changes that arise from the application of artificial intelligence cause changes at the global level and create an environment whose regulation is expected. The fact that great progress in terms of computing power, sophisticated algorithms and the amount of data creates great economic value requires adaptation to new business conditions. In these and such conditions, the question arises as to whether and to what extent the application of artificial intelligence can affect human rights, whether it can endanger them and in what way, that is, whether artificial intelligence represents a threat or a privilege.

The application of artificial intelligence has numerous advantages. Are the shortcomings of its application or the fear of the unknown a limiting factor for its faster implementation? How and to what extent the further application of artificial intelligence will change our daily lives remains to be seen. Its application to date shows that it can certainly facilitate and improve numerous human activities. Adequate regulation of the application of artificial intelligence and reducing the possibility of its misuse would also reduce the possibility of violations and threats to human rights. In this sense, intensive activity of legislators in the preparation and regulation of this important area is an obligation and a necessity.

There are several ways in which it is possible to prevent the negative impacts of artificial intelligence on human rights. This primarily refers to: banning certain artificial intelligence systems, establishing new human rights, adapting the definitions of existing human rights, introducing oversight mechanisms and establishing an obligation for private companies to align their artificial intelligence systems with certain standards.
